Casa Hibisco

Casa Hibisco

Designer - Diego Olivero Studio

On the wild Pacific coast of Guatemala, in the laid-back surf town of El Paredón, Casa Hibisco emerges as a serene architectural retreat where water, landscape, and materials dissolve into one another. The project centers around an open space where the pool meets the horizon of the ocean, creating a striking visual effect—an infinite mirror that blurs the boundary between architecture and nature.

The design embraces a palette of natural materials that root the project deeply in its environment. Stone, chokum, palm, and brick come together to create a space that feels both contemporary and timeless, while remaining naturally cool under the tropical climate. The textures and tones of these materials echo the surrounding landscape, allowing the architecture to feel quietly integrated with the coast.

Inside, the interiors by Diego Olivero Studio are conceived as an extension of the outdoors. Large openings, tactile finishes, and a restrained material palette frame the lush surroundings, allowing the landscape to become an active part of the living experience. The approach prioritizes harmony with nature, emphasizing sustainability and the thoughtful use of local resources.
